History
The monument that is currently located on the square between the catering block and the staff of the Poelkapelle Company, was initially in the barracks of Langmark Poelkapelle.
It is an old German bomb from the Second World War of the type SC 1500 kg 'HERMANN'.
It was erected in ??? and placed in the barracks of Langemark-Poelkapelle. The names of the victims from Poelkapelle were placed on the upright bomb.

The monument was inaugurated on May 31, 2006 at its current location.
September 3, 2009, following the death of Adjt Stefaan VAN PETEGHEM the year before, a parade was organized at the monument.

In addition to the general monument, Poelkapelle also has the memorial stone of Stefaan VAN PETEGHEM who died in Lebanon. This stone used to be in Tibnin (Lebanon) in memory of Stefaan there.
It was inaugurated on April 6, 2022 by Frieda MONSY (widow of Stefaan) and their two daughters, Sarah and Lisa.
This memorial stone is located in the military quarters and is not public.
Google MapsIt was decided to place the memorial stone as close as possible to where Stefaan worked at DOVO, namely the dismantling building (OMG).

Geschiedenis
Het monument dat zich momenteel aan het pleintje tussen de horecablok en de STaf van de Compagnie Poelkapelle bevind, stond initieel in de kazerne van Langmark Poelkapelle.
Het is een oude Duitse bom uit de TWeede Wereldoorlog van het type SC 1500 kg 'HERMANN'.
Het werd opgericht in ??? en geplaatst in de kazerne van Langemark-Poelkapelle. Op de rechtopstaande bom werden de namen gezet van de slachtoffers uit Poelkapelle.

Het monument dat zich nu in Poelkapelle bevindt, stond origineel in de oude kazerne van Langemark-Poelkapelle.

Het monument werd ingehuldigd op 31 mei 2006 op zijn huidige plaats.
3 september 2009 naar aanleiding van het overlijden van Adjt Stefaan VAN PETEGHEM het jaar voordien, werd er een parade georganiseerd aan het monument.

Naast het algemene monument, bevind zich in Poelkapelle ook de gedenksten van Stefaan VAN PETEGHEM die overleden is in Libanon. Deze steen stond voorheen in Tibnin (Libanon) ter herdenking aan Stefaan daar.
Deze werd op 6 april 2022 door Frieda MONSY (weduwe van Stefaan) en hun beide dochters, Sarah en Lisa, ingehuldigd.
Deze gedenksteen bevind zich in het militaire kwartier en is niet openbaar.
Google MapsEr werd gekozen om de gedenksteen zo dicht als mogeljk te plaasten waar Stefaan werkte bij DOVO, namelijk het ontmantelingsgebouw (OMG).

Le monument qui se trouve aujourd'hui à Poelkapelle se trouvait à l'origine dans l'ancienne caserne de Langemark-Poelkapelle.

En plus du monument général, Poelkapelle contient également les mémoriaux de Stefaan VAN PETEGHEM, décédé au Liban. Cette pierre se trouvait auparavant à Tibnine (Liban) en commémoration de Stefaan.

Cette pierre commémorative est située dans les quartiers militaires et n'est pas publique.
